This class, taught in our Seattle workshop, is for those curious about shoemaking and a great way to launch your shoemaking career. This shoemaking class is taught by Leanne's instructor, mentor, friend, and master shoemaker, Jessica Brommer. Jessica attended FIT and has studied with various master leather crafters. Jessica has been making shoes and teaching for over a decade and is considered an expert.
Students will leave this class with a fully constructed pair of shoes, a $1600 value. Using the cemented construction method, you will learn to make a pair of fully functional lace-up shoes. Styles taught in this class will be limited to the classic styles "Oxford" & "Derby", however, students can do much customization through material choice and detailing. The basic concepts/skills of footwear construction will be covered, including last selection and fit, basic patterning concepts, material and pattern selection, tracing, clicking, and skiving, as well as sewing, lasting, and finishing.
